VORTEXPLORE

MY ROLE

I aided my Team Lead with contributing asset updates to Vortexplores design system, working in agile teams, through quarterly design sprints. All of my design decisions were with user-centric thinking and how effectively I could create simple, comprehensive components for a data-heavy platform.

I created cohesive menu items, tiles, modals, cards and tool tips which were responsive to changes in size and information. Colours and fonts were on brand with VorteXplores design library. I also created variable states of components to give a live page feeling when the cursor hovered over one of the menu selections.

Some of the tasks I was given throughout this project:

- Creating new elements for Vortexplores design library; menu text size variations / hover states, tiles, cards, banners, and tool tips

- Page / element layout variations

- Detailed quality assurance feedback to developers to ensure flawless platform design

- Communicating with Sr. designer as well as cross-functional teams

- Platform cohesion with latest design elements

- File upload flows designs

CONCLUSION

My mentor brought me onto the Vortexplore project initially to create error page illustrations, but also gave me shot with some product design tasks because of my UX/UI education. I got more design work based on how well I completed previous design tasks. The DLYMI team uses Figma for designing so I had to get learn quickly about it's auto-layout feature to create responsive assets and consistency throughout design elements.
