MUSE app: Sleep Features

My Roles     Product Design

Muse is a Toronto-based company, whose research-grade EEG headband acts as your personal meditation coach. Advanced sensors accurately measure your biosignals, while gentle audio cues deliver real-time feedback to bring your focus back to the present. The app paired with headbands help users get the most out of their meditations.

The Muse App is a powerful product that gives users detailed insights into their sleeping patterns. With guided meditation or sound files which help users relax as they drift into a good nights sleep. The headband sends the app important information to what stage of rest users pass throughout the night.

TILE EXPLORATION

My CEO and Sr. Designer at Design Like You Mean It, brought me onto this project as a "fresh set of eyes" to help take the design in a new direction. The challenge was exploring various tile layouts that were visually distinct for each session type, while still maintaining a cohesive visual style across the mobile platform.

I began exploring different framing styles, font types and imagery to be used for each tile. After every iteration, I would review with my team leaders to give / receive feedback for the next round of revisions.

I enjoyed the challenge of this project and the freedom I had for this open sky concept. The end result helped create cohesion throughout the app as the border shapes created individuality with each different type of meditation or sleep program.

INFORMATION
ARCHITECTURE
DOCUMENTATION

My team needed a full comprehensive understanding of the Muse app and all of its live page designs. I meticulously logged every step of the users journey through screenshots and laid out each step of the journey using Figma. This task aided the team in gaining a deeper understanding of the app's overall page design / flow, which lead to knowing which pages needed attention for a redesign or a flow alteration.

STORYBOARDING

The challenge was to create a storyboard formula that would be carried out across the Muse app as their intro session videos. The task was to create the storyboard based on the existing videos that could be easy to replicate the design frames for new session audio files.

I began by taking screenshots of every new frame / action of the current intro videos. I noted dialogue / sounds used and the duration of each transition. This allowed me to create a new visual flow and provided feedback on any areas that needed improvements, such as excessively long segments / transitions and changes to the commentator's script.
